Flames wins their first game in AFCON

Malawi has managed to get their first win in a 6th game of Total Energies Africa Cup Of Nations(AFCON) at the Bingu stadium against Burkina Faso.


Gabadinho Mhango , Richard Mbulu and LIoyd Aaron Mbulu’s got on the score sheet and fired 3 beautiful goals  against Burkina Faso. Goalkeeper William Thole played the big part in the win as he was outstanding after he denied Bukina Faso a chance to catch the net.

Malawi missed the services of defenders Denis Chembezi and MacDonald Lameck plus midfielder and captain John CJ Banda who were suspended, because of yellow cards against Senegal and Burundi matches.


Nickson Mwase, Gomezgan Chirwa, Lloyd Aaron were used as replacements  for the suspended trio with Lloyd Aaron winning the man of the match.


The 3-0 win marks their second clean sheet since the start of the qualifying campaign.

Despite getting a win today  against Burkina Faso , Malawi has failed to qualify for the AFCON 2025 while ending the campaign at the bottom group L table with 4 points.
