Malawi international striker Gabadinho Mhango is set to leave South African club Marumo Gallants at the end of the current DStv Premiership season, his agent Mike Makaab has confirmed.
Mhango’s contract with the Polokwane-based side, owned by Abram Sello, is due to expire next month, and the forward will not be renewing his stay at the club.

“I can tell you that Gabadinho Mhango will leave Marumo Gallants at the end of the season and join a new club,” said Makaab in a media statement. “When you look at Mhango and how he has performed at his club, he has given it his all, but he will definitely leave at the end of the season.”

Mhango joined Gallants ahead of the 2023/24 season following spells with clubs such as Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu. Despite his efforts this season, the club has had a mixed campaign.

Gallants are currently pushing to secure a top-eight finish, which would see them qualify for the MTN8 competition next season. The team sits in 10th place on the league table with 31 points from 27 matches.

They will wrap up their campaign with a crucial clash against Magesi FC at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday, 24 May. A victory could potentially lift them into the top half of the table, depending on other results.

Mhango’s next move has not yet been officially announced, but speculation is rife that he may stay in the Premier Soccer League, with several clubs reportedly showing interest in securing his signature.

The 31-year-old forward remains one of Malawi’s top football exports and is expected to continue his professional career at a high level following his departure from Gallants.
