The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services (DCCMS) has issued an update regarding Tropical Storm Dikeledi, currently situated in the Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar.
According to a notice released today, Dikeledi is forecasted to move into the Mozambique Channel after making landfall in northern Madagascar on Saturday night, 12 january.
The weather models indicate potential impacts on Malawi’s weather conditions due to the storm.
“However, over the next few days, we are expecting a reduction in rainfall mainly over the south and parts of the central areas due to the influence of an unstable easterly air mass” stated the update.
While the tropical storm remains under close monitoring, the DCCMS has assured the public that updates will be provided as necessary. The next scheduled update is set for Friday , 10 January.
