The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services (DCCMS) has issued an update on Severe Tropical Storm Dikeledi, which has intensified and is currently located east of Madagascar, approximately 2,330 kilometers away from Malawi.
As of now, the storm has a center pressure of 990hPa and is expected to make landfall in northern Madagascar on Saturday, January 11, 2025. After that, it will enter the Mozambique Channel.
The department says Dikeledi is not currently having a direct impact on Malawi’s weather. However, the DCCMS is closely monitoring the storm’s movement and will provide updates to the nation.
The next update is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025. In the meantime, residents are advised to stay informed and follow any instructions from local authorities.
It’s worth noting that Tropical Storm Dikeledi is expected to bring significant changes to the weather patterns in Malawi, particularly in the southern and central regions, where a reduction in rainfall is anticipated.
