Kanengo Police have apprehended 21-year-old Norman Maluwa in connection with the murder of 32-year-old Tamandani Lazaro in Area 25 B, Lilongwe. The suspect allegedly disposed of the victim’s body in a sack at a different location.
The arrest comes after angry residents of Area 25 B vandalized and set fire to Maluwa’s house, following allegations that he had sold the victim’s clothes to a woman. Maluwa managed to escape the scene at the time.
According to Kanengo Police spokesperson Gresham Ngwira, the suspect was arrested at his home village in Kasiya, Lilongwe, where police also found clothes and household items belonging to the deceased. Ngwira stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend others who may have been involved in the crime.
At the time of the incident, Tamandani Lazaro was living alone. The police are urging anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and assist with the investigation.
