Arsenal Endures Another Trophyless Season After UCL Exit

By Kapindira Chrispin

Arsenal’s hopes of ending their long trophy drought were dashed once again as they fell 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg. The result sealed a 3-1 aggregate defeat, confirming another season without silverware for the North London side.
The Gunners started the match with energy and intent, dominating possession and creating several chances early on. Within the opening eight minutes, Arsenal carved out three clear opportunities, but PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma stood firm, producing vital saves to keep the visitors at bay.

Despite Arsenal’s promising start, PSG gradually took control of the game. Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring with a superb volley just before halftime, giving the French champions a crucial edge. In the second half, Achraf Hakimi doubled PSG’s lead with a brilliant long-range strike that left Arsenal’s hopes hanging by a thread.

Bukayo Saka managed to pull one back for Arsenal with a well-taken goal in the 75th minute, but it proved too little, too late.

PSG will now advance to the Champions League final, where they will face Inter Milan in Munich on May 31. Inter secured their spot in the final after edging Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate in a thrilling semi-final clash.
