TAM Partners with Salima Sugar to Boost Sugar Distribution in Malawi

By Kapindira chrispin

The Transporters Association of Malawi (TAM) has announced a partnership with Salima Sugar Company, Malawi Limited, to enhance the distribution of sugar across the country.
This collaboration aims to address the recent shortage of sugar in the Malawian market, which has led to a surge in prices.

According to a press statement released by TAM on May 27, 2025, the partnership involves the transportation of sugar from Salima Sugar’s factory warehouse to various parts of Malawi.

TAM has already deployed over 20 trucks, each with a capacity of 30 tons, to facilitate the distribution of sugar to all major cities and towns
The association has assured the public that more trucks will be made available until the sugar supply is stabilized.

TAM has also invited its members to submit their truck details for loading sugar and has provided contact information for those interested in joining the association.

One of the anonymous source has hinted that this problem has a solution but the authorities are just delaying and do not know how to handle situations like this.

“The local people are the most to be affected by these problem but others do not care ; they just want to see us suffer all the times” he says..
