People from Karonga, Chitipa, Nkhatabay (Mdawuko wa Atonga), and Ngoni from Mzimba came together to showcase their culture.
The karonga Chitipa Cultural Heritage event was held on May 31,2025 at Mzuzu City Shoprite with the aim to promote unity, preserve traditional practices, and foster cooperation among communities.
The event featured traditional dances, music, food, and attire, highlighting the diversity and uniqueness of each community. Attendees had the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of the participating communities.
Chairperson of Karonga-Chitipa Cultural Heritage, Happy Mugala, addressed the importance of the event. He emphasized that cultural preservation and promotion are crucial for national unity and development.
According to James Ndhlovu, a local cultural expert, “Events like this one play a significant role in promoting cultural exchange and understanding among communities.”
The event provided a platform for communities to share their heritage and learn from one another. By celebrating their cultural diversity, the communities promoted understanding and cooperation.
