Mary Nkhamanyachi Chilima, widow of the late Vice President of Malawi, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, has posted a deeply emotional message on her Facebook page, marking one year since she last witnessed a moment of pride involving her husband before his untimely death.
In her post, Mary reflects on a diplomatic event that took place exactly a year before Dr. Chilima’s passing, recalling how proud she was to watch him interact confidently and warmly with his international peers. She wrote:
“A year ago today, I watched with pride as you interacted with your peers. I was so happy my love….”
The post includes several photographs of Dr. Chilima and Mary engaging with dignitaries in a formal setting, highlighting the Vice President’s active role in diplomatic affairs.
Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima tragically died on June 10, 2024, in a plane crash while serving in office. His death marked a significant loss for the country, and his legacy continues to be remembered in both political and personal spaces.
Chilima’s family announced that it has arranged a memorial service at Nsipe in Ntcheu where he was buried.
