US President Donald Trump Imposes Travel Ban on Citizens from 12 Countries

By Misheck Kadwala

President Donald Trump has officially announced a travel ban affecting citizens from 12 countries. The ban, which takes effect on Monday, 9 June, restricts nationals from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen from entering the United States.
According to reports from Fox 26 Houston, the decision is part of the US government’s efforts to strengthen national security. President Trump’s administration has stated that the ban targets countries with inadequate security measures or high risks of terrorism.

The announcement has sparked mixed reactions globally, with some supporting the move as necessary for safety, while others criticize it as discriminatory. The affected nations are yet to issue official responses.

This is not the first time President Trump has implemented such restrictions. Earlier travel bans during his presidency faced legal challenges and protests, but the current administration insists the policy aligns with US interests.
