Three Security Guards Sentenced to 5 Years for Theft

The Mkukula First Grade Magistrate court in Lumbadzi, Dowa, has convicted and sentenced three security guards to 5 years imprisonment with hard labor for breaking into a building and committing a felony.
Yohane Chirwa, 24, Humphrey Machela, 36, and Frank Mwale, 19, were hired through Dreams Security Company to protect Innoceria Green Belt at Kamuzu International Airport clash land.

According to Station Prosecution Officer Superintendent Aufi Ali, the three guards conspired to steal pepper worth K1,662,500. Despite their pleas for leniency, citing family obligations and job loss, Her Worship First Grade Magistrate Melvis Sulumba handed down the 5-year sentence.

In addition to the prison term, Dreams Security Company was ordered to pay K831,250 in compensation to Innoceria Farm. The sentencing serves as a warning to would-be offenders, emphasizing the consequences of theft and breach of trust.

The three security guards hail from different villages: Machela from Mapondela Village in Ntcheu, Chirwa from Chipateni village, and Mwale from Sadzima village, both in Kasungu.
