Police arrest 4 armed robbers in Nkhata Bay

Police in Nkhata Bay District have arrested four people for allegedly robbing Geoffrey Manda a business man at Kavuzi trading centre of his K2, 500, 000. 00 (Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Kwacha) on Monday morning.
The suspects are who are two Malawians; Amos Manda 35, from Nkhata Bay district, Alex Nyasulu 42, from Mzimba and two South Africans; Marvellous Khowane 26 and Bnekisipho Mthembu 41.

Reports say Geoffrey Manda on February 10, 2025 was driving Toyota Voxy NB 11283 from Kavuzi on his way to Mzuzu for his business.

Upon passing Chisala trading centre, he was hijacked by criminals who were using motor vehicle registration number PE 5259 Mazda AZ-Wagon.
Two men came out of the small vehicle and jumped into his Voxy and snatched his car keys. They drove him towards Kanduli forest while manhandling him.

The duo managed to rob him of his 2.5Million Kwacha and dumped him together with his vehicle within Kanduli forest path.

Upon receipt of the complaint, Nkhata Bay Police detectives in conjunction with detectives from Northern Region Police Headquarters, instituted intensive joint investigations leading to the arrest of the four suspects in question.

One was arrested in Nkhata Bay while three were hooked in Mzuzu City. They were found with two loaded pistols and cash amounting to K1, 226, 000. 00.

The suspects have been charged with robbery and illegal possession of firearms and they will appear in court after paperwork is completed to answer their charges.
